As long as I remember I’ve always thought about getting older. When I was young I thought getting older was cool. At 14 I couldn’t wait to be 16, then 18, then 21, and then 25, and then … then it stopped being cool.
It’s not that I’m scared of getting older. No, what really terrifies me now is wasting time. Now I’m more conscious of every little decision I make. I pay more attention to what I eat, what I do (or don’t do) to my body, what I buy, and about what impact my choices have on my life and others’.
I still think about how I’ll be when I’m old. Perhaps I’ll look like her, or her. Even if I’m no longer in a rush to get older, at least I want do it graciously.
Aging graciously, I think, starts from the inside. It’s about the way you live your life, about what you eat (say goodbye to your Cherry Garcia) , how much you exercise you do (lifting a glass of wine is not enough, ladies), how much you sleep (nodding off on the office toilet doesn’t count), how much time you spend in the sun (maybe you should cancel that trip to cancun, eh?) etc.
I think I do pretty well when it comes to that (except that living in Mexico City is like smoking ten packs of Marlboros a day), but then again, it never hurts to give the old outside a coating or two with some anti-aging like Jocelyn Wildenstein cream. I mean, just to be safe.
Right now I’m using an anti-aging treatment from Origins, who, by the way, just opened their first corner in Mexico at Liverpool Polanco.
I’d heard of Origins before, but never tried any of their products. So far I’m happy with the results, but we’re too early in the game to see if stands the test of time.
I’ll let you know how it went in 10 years. Hope you can wait.
